The Castle Opocno & Museum

The Castle Opocno was acquired by Rudolf Colloredo in 1635 and since then been with the Family. Opocno which houses a beautifull collection of rare Paintings, Artifacts, weapons, books and more and all on display today, has been accumulated through generations by the C-M family and in possession since then. But unfortunately it was all confiscated by the Nazi regime during the 2. World war and later by the Czechoslovak Communist regime.(read more by following the Family history link.)

Opocno castle and the collections are currently managed by the Czech National Heritage Institute.Unfortunately the lengthly restitution case is still ongoing but recently there was a positive judgement by the Constitutional Court which decided that the case has to be done all over again. We the family Colloredo-Mansfeld are very happy about that decision and we are absolutly certain that Opocno is our property and demand and hope for its return soon.

However the castle Opocno is open to the public and will always remain so whatever happens.
